University of Chester Business School students earn awards for excellence

A total of ten exceptional students, studying at undergraduate to doctoral level, received Dean’s Commendation Awards after being nominated by members of the academic team.

The awards were presented to the students earlier this month (September) by Dr Tim Brown, Acting Head of Chester Business School along with Dr David Acquaye, Head of Division - Business, Management, Accounting and Finance, Dr Giselle Bate, Senior Lecturer in Marketing, and Amanda Forsyth, Senior Lecturer in Business Management at the Business School, at Queen’s Park.

The students, the degrees they study, and the accolades they earned, were:

• Ceri Pimblett, Doctor of Business Administration student - Outstanding Contribution to the Postgraduate Community and to Chester Business School.
• Samantha Oakley, Events Management Bachelor of Arts (BA) - Exceptional Performance on The Live Event: Production module.
• Lowri Bower, Digital Marketing BA - Highest Grade on The Customer Journey module.
• Jana Mohamed, Digital Marketing BA - Highest Grade on the Marketing Communications module.
• Bronson Ellis, Digital Marketing BA - Outstanding Contribution on The Customer Journey module.
• Karol Tinajero Villegas, exchange student - Highest Grade on the Marketing Trends module.
• Anna Vasilyeva, Marketing BA - Outstanding Contribution on the Marketing Trends module.
• Faith Patterson, Banking and Finance Bachelor of Science (BSc) - Exceptional Performance on the Industry Placement Year.
• Md Ekram Hussen, Business Management BA - Exceptional Performance on the Retail Management module.
• Junqi Tan, Events Management and International Tourism BA - Highest Grade on the Management Research Project module.

Md Ekram Hussen said: “Receiving the Dean’s Commendation Award is a moment I will cherish forever. When I received the award, I was genuinely emotional and incredibly proud, as I never expected to receive an award when I began my studies. As an international student, this recognition means much more than an academic achievement - it represents purpose, passion, and the journey I have taken.

“I am deeply grateful to Amanda Forsyth, my Retail Management Module Leader, who nominated me for this award. Her teaching went beyond helping us achieve a good grade; she inspired us to grow personally and professionally and to ‘fly high’. I am equally thankful to Dr Tim Brown, the University, my peers, and everyone who supported me. This award and my university journey have been life-changing experiences that will continue to influence my future professional journey.”

Dr Tim Brown added: “The Dean’s Awards provide an opportunity to recognise and celebrate some of the exceptional individuals who make Chester Business School such a vibrant and successful community.
