This dynamic, interactive and professional course places the needs of patients, service users and their families, and Mental Health Nursing at the centre of its practice.
This course provides you with an equally weighted dual field qualification in both Mental Health Nursing and your second chosen field (Children's Nursing). In Years 1-3 you will complete 360 credits whilst following the BN (Hons) Mental Health Nursing course. This is a specialist professional course that enables you to make a unique contribution to the health, wellbeing and recovery of people of all ages who experience, or may be at risk of developing, mental health problems. Our course promotes a holistic, non-discriminate approach and will help you challenge the inequality and stigma often attributed to mental health issues, whilst improving outcomes for patients and service users who suffer with mental illness.
In Year 4, you will complete 120 Level 7 credits in your second field of nursing (Children's Nursing). Our Integrated Master’s in Nursing course will equip you to be a nurse of the future and provide you with the knowledge and skills required to provide care for people within two of the four disciplines. It gives you the unique opportunity to gain wider and more in-depth experiences of nursing to meet the changing and challenging healthcare environment.
The NHS Learning Support Fund provides additional funding for eligible healthcare students studying nursing. Further details can be found on the NHS Learning Support Fund page.
The first three years of the Mental Health Field pathway can be taught at either of our state-of-the-art skills facilities based in Chester or Warrington, with the fourth year of study being taught at Wheeler, our health and social care building located on the bank of the River Dee in Chester.
