Biography
Dr Clea Wright is a senior lecturer in investigative and forensic psychology in the Faculty of Health, Medicine and Society at the University of Chester and she is Course Director for the BSc Psychology (Forensic and Investigative Specialism). Clea has been researching and teaching since 2009.
Teaching and Supervision
Clea has written and delivered modules, and contributes to teaching at all undergraduate and Masters levels. She supervises undergraduate and Masters level dissertations, and is currently supervising three PhD projects.
Research and Knowledge Exchange
Clea’s research is based in the areas investigative and forensic psychology, and incorporates elements of social psychology, cognitive psychology, and social cognition. She is particularly interested in communication. Her work is focused on collaboration with both academic and practitioner colleagues, to produce theoretically-informed, evidence-based research that has a strongly applied focus. Examples of research areas include deceptive behaviour in high stakes situations; various aspects of investigative interviewing including questioning, disclosure of evidence, and understanding the police caution in police interviews; individual differences that affect the ability to detect deception; psychopathy, particularly related to language use; identifying signs of child sexual abuse in perpetrators; domestic abuse.
