Biography

Professor Amit Sinha FRCS (Tr & Orth) It is an incredible privilege and pleasure to be a Faculty of Health, Medicine and Society at Chester University and to have the opportunity to teach the undergraduates of Chester Medical School and the Post-graduate students of MSc (Orthopaedics). I graduated from Ranchi Medical College, Ranchi in India and after completing my Masters Postgraduate residency programme in Trauma and Orthopaedics from Patna University I came to the UK. Following an extensive training at various centres Liverpool, Manchester, Dundee and University of Tuibingen in Germany, I was appointed as Consultant Trauma & Orthopaedic Surgeon at Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board. I now have more than 35 years of experience in Trauma and Orthopaedics. I have been involved in education, research and training as well as the management of orthopaedic services. Throughout my career, education has been my forte with several roles starting from management being a Surgical Tutor, Regional advisor for Orthopaedics and a member of the Specialist Training committee. I have contributed to education and training as a consultant and as an examiner for the Royal Colleges throughout my career. This was accompanied with encouraging trainees with various research projects. I have enjoyed being a mentor to many of my trainees and remain so even now. I have also been involved in supervising and teaching postgraduate and medical students during my tenure as a consultant and through my links having served as Presidents of National organisations like the Welsh Orthopaedic Society, British Indian Orthopaedic Society, and currently of British International Doctors Association. I have now retired from the NHS but have continued my practice in the private sector with particular interest in the medicolegal field. My guiding principle is always to give my best. I am enthusiastic, innovative, a team player and always keen to look for ideas and solutions. I am delighted to support Chester Medical School in teaching, training and mentoring the students to become capable doctors of the future. My email: a.sinha@chester.ac.uk www.sinhaorthopaedics.co.uk
