"As an international student, I’ve found Chester to be incredibly welcoming, and it truly feels like my second home now."
I chose to study at the University of Chester because of its unique blend of history and modernity. Chester is a beautiful Roman city filled with traditional markets, historical architecture, boutique shops, and vibrant cafes—there’s always something to explore. As an international student, I’ve found Chester to be incredibly welcoming, and it truly feels like my second home now.
In the 2023–2024 academic year, I served as the President of the Indian Society. During my time as president, we were honoured with two awards: ‘Best Society of the Year’ and ‘Best Society Event of the Year’ for our celebration of the Holi Festival. This was a highlight of my student journey, and I’m grateful for the incredible support from the Students’ Union in helping us celebrate Indian culture and create a space where international students feel at home. I also work part-time at Chester Students’ Union as Front of House staff and with the University Chaplaincy as an Assistant Hindu Chaplain—both roles allow me to connect with fellow students and staff, which I truly enjoy.
The University of Chester has been an exciting and welcoming place to study. The teaching on my Psychology course is engaging and well-structured, and the lecturers are always kind and supportive. I’ve had the chance to grow both academically and personally through various roles, events, and friendships. My advice to international students is to get involved you’ll find a diverse, supportive community and plenty of opportunities to make your time here truly unforgettable.
